Mary and Terry Anderson – Meet The Collectors

Mary and Terry Anderson were avid collectors of antiques and unique artwork for almost 40 years. Based in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, they met later in life, finding their soulmates in the mid-80s. They soon found a common interest – antique glassware and attending auctions together. As they learned more about antiques, they found a shared interest in the history of the items as well as their beauty.

Terry loved a great story that he could educate or entertain with the “show and tell” item from history. And Mary loved researching the things she admired and finding a great bargain at auction that someone might not have quite understood what they had in their sale. Mary was a huge lover of porcelain shoes and she had a world-class collection of more than a thousand shoes. Terry had a substantial art education feeding his interests early and developed a love of Japanese and Chinese art, as well as some African art later in life.

Both Mary and Terry were very active in the Royal Bayreuth Collectors club from 1996 through at least 2016, serving as President and Vice President together for a couple of years. They especially enjoyed the RBCC Conventions, providing presentations and stories of the history they had learned.

Together, they made a great partnership and a love story that finally ended in 2024 with Mary’s passing. Terry passed in early 2026, leaving a vast collection of glassware, artwork, sculpture, and more.
