Chihuly’s formal education in glass art began at the University of Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in interior design. He also studied glass-blowing techniques at the University of Wisconsin and the Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1965.
Chihuly’s works regularly receive gallery and museum exhibitions worldwide. One of Chihuly’s primary inspirations is the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. However, he is best known for his large-scale installations, which often feature a combination of glass and found objects. Many of his works have ongoing displays in prominent public spaces, such as parks, museums, and botanical gardens.
