In the landscape of international fashion and luxury, few individuals have shaped a city as profoundly as Irene Marie. As the founder of the legendary Miami Beach-based Irene Marie Models, she did not just manage talent. She built an era. Known widely as the “Grande Dame of Modeling,” Irene’s career is a masterwork of entrepreneurship, cultural curation, and, more recently, a deep exploration of the human spirit.
The Architect of the South Beach Golden Age
Irene Marie began her journey in the 1970s, working as a fashion model and television host in Paris and Beirut. When she returned to her hometown of Miami in 1975, she brought a global perspective that would eventually transform the local landscape. By 1980, she partnered to open City Models Florida, which later evolved into her eponymous agency, Irene Marie Models. In 1988, Irene moved her operations to the iconic headquarters at 728 Ocean Drive. This move was a catalyst for the revitalization of the Art Deco district. She worked closely with state and local officials to foster growth. Her efforts helped South Beach earn its reputation as the “third fashion capital of the world.” Her influence extended far beyond the runway. She sat on prominent boards like the Florida Motion Picture and TV Association and the Miami-Dade County Film and Print Advisory Board.
A Legacy of Discovery and Mentorship
For over three decades, Irene Marie was a pivotal force in the careers of thousands of models and actors. She is credited with discovering and developing household names such as Niki Taylor, Cindy Taylor, and David Fumero. Her keen eye for talent eventually led to a partnership with MTV to launch the hit reality series 8th & Ocean. Beyond the business of beauty, Irene acted as a mentor and mother figure to those under her wing. Her commitment to empowerment led her to become a founding mentor of the Women of Tomorrow program. In 2007, her decades of dedication were honored when she received the Key to the City of Miami Beach.
The Quest for a Deeper Connection
Following her retirement from the modeling world in 2009, Irene turned her focus toward a path she had been quietly walking for years. This journey was a search for spiritual growth and ancient wisdom.
Beginning in 1998, her quest took her across the globe to participate in the creation of seven sacred healing circles. These sites, known as energy anchors, explore how ancient cultures maintained balance across the social and spiritual aspects of life. This work became the foundation for her later contributions to literature and philanthropy:

A New Chapter in Art and Design
Today, Irene continues to channel her creative energy and spiritual insights into her role as a consultant and artist. While she remains a fashion icon, her current work explores the intersection of beauty and the divine. This includes the launch of Irene Marie Angel Bags. These feathered handbags serve as a unique spiritual connection and a bridge between her legendary eye for fashion and her life’s quest for light.
Irene Marie’s story is a testament to the power of evolution. From the high-stakes world of international modeling to the serene pursuit of spiritual discovery, she remains a guiding light in the Miami community and beyond.
